The Sweetest Sound in the World

As Anastyn was playing just before we put her to bed, we finally caught her adorable little laugh on video. She laughs quite often, but we never get the camera out in time. Tonight, Nathan was sitting in the rocking chair and stomped his foot down to make a sound and apparently, Anastyn thought it was quite hilarious! I apologize for the poor video quality. Our video camera battery was dead, so I used the video mode on my digital camera. Of course, it doesn't hold much video so I only got a little of her laughing. I must say there is nothing sweeter than a baby's laugh.

On the Wall

So, here is the finished product. We finally got Anastyn's letter's hung up over her bed. I really wish that we were able to paint the walls in our apartments, I think it would really help them stand out. However, we can't and this is what we have to work with. Anastyn was watching as we hung up her letters and she was laughing and smiling, so I think we have her approval. She seemed very interested in what we were doing. Sometimes, during the day, when I put her down for her nap she turns to look up at her name and will just talk and laugh. I am glad she enjoys them and it gives her something to look at now when she is ready for bed or waking up.

Playing and Sitting Up

Recently, Anastyn has discovered that she is able to hold her toys all by herself. She loves to play with her rattles, books, teethers and all of her soft toys. Of course they all go straight to her mouth, but that is to be expected. She also loves to play with the toys on her carseat, especially since I lowered them with links so now she can get them into her mouth. I love to watch her discover her new talents. She also loves to sit up in her boppy pillow. She has really gotten pretty steady, so I often sit her up and put multiple toys around her for her to decide which ones she wants to make the journey to her mouth. She absolutely loves trying to fit the rattle in her mouth, she usually tries for quite some time before giving up.

Sitting up with rattle in hand. (or leaning forward)

Contemplating how she is going to fit this thing in her mouth.

Decided she will just go for it!

Sitting up wondering where all of her toys went.

The Lansford Grandparents

I have been meaning to get some pictures with Grandma Jeanette and Grandpa Darrell for some time now, but it never seems to work out. So, I had my camera in my purse this past weekend and snagged a couple of quick pics. We had a very busy weekend in Belle. I will post some more pics later.

Anastyn's Favorite Songs

Well, I have recently added a playlist to the page. I was really wanting to put all of Anastyn's favorite songs on it, but I am having trouble finding them. We are missing Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the little children and a few others. I basically just started adding any songs I could find that I sing to her frequently. It seems I am a little stuck on The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, but hey, they are good songs and she seems to like them. Plus I am a bit of a musical fan! I was just really disappointed that I couldn't find the versions of the songs that we sing the most. I realize it doesn't really matter, but I felt the need to explain the song list!

Learning to Jump

Last weekend when we went home we stayed with my mom and dad. They have this jumper thing that you can hang in a doorway, and since Anastyn loves to bounce we thought we would let her give it a try. She is a little small for it yet, and her legs were stiff as could be when we first put her in it, but then she started moving around a little. There wasn't much bouncing, but she had her feet moving a little and was swinging a some. All in all, I thinks she enjoyed her short experience with the jumper. I really think she is going to love this thing when she gets a little bigger though! These pictures make me laugh because she looks like she has no arms.

No arms or clothes, but she still has a big smile.

3 Months Old

I am a little late on this post, but I decided to put it up anyway. October 2nd was Anastyn's 3 month birthday. I did manage to remember to take her picture, unfortunately I haven't been taking it in the same place every month so I have no comparison to see how big she has gotten. She really has a personality all her own these days. She is very opinionated and will let you know the minute she is uncomfortable or wants to change positions. Her favorite songs are "Itsy, Bitsy, Spider"~ this is the only song on her CD's she will stop crying to in the car, "Good Mornin'" from Singing in the Rain ~ I started singing a small portion of this song to her one day and now it is about the only song I can sing when she is crying that makes her stop, it also makes her smile when she is happy, finally, the "ABC's" ~ Daddy sings this to her often and it always gets her smiling and oftentimes talking. She hates tummy time, but is getting better at pushing herself onto her back as long as one arm is still under her. Her favorite toy is the flower dangling from her carseat and the flower on her bouncy seat. We often see her just sitting in the backseat staring at her flower and smiling very big at it. She loves it! She is not afraid of strangers yet, if approached, she almost immediately begins talking to them! Mommy and Daddy can try all day to get her talking with no luck, but put someone else in front of her and she has lots to say! She also loves sitting up and standing. She sits pretty well with her boppy pillow pulled closely around her and if she falls back a little she strains to try to sit back up. She tries standing most of the time though, often when we are pulling her to sit up, she just stiffens her little legs and goes straight to standing. I think I have mentioned this before but she also laughs out loud quite a bit. It is the sweetest sound and we can't hear it enough! And we love to see her big grin, which is pretty easy to coax out of her, just a couple words or funny sounds and she grins from ear to ear. Such a happy baby! I can't believe it has already been another month! She is so much fun and we love her so very much! Can't wait to see what is in store this next month.

Getting Crafty

Recently I decided to try my hand in being crafty. I have been wanting to get letters for Anastyn's name to hang above her crib. I was in Hobby Lobby one day and saw these letters were one sale. So I decided to buy some paint, the letters, some brushes and just do it myself! You must realize that I am not an artist, I don't ever draw and for some reason I thought this would be a lot easier than it turned out. I was thinking I would only do polka dots and stripes, but her bedding has flowers, and other patterns that I decided I was going to try my hand at. Nathan did the stripes, because I can't draw a straight line to save my life. Here is the finished product next to the quilt that goes in her room. I haven't gotten them hung up yet, hopefully soon though. Overall I am pleased with how they ended up. We definitely worked hard on them.

We Have a Thumb Sucker

Well, I think it is official. Anastyn is a thumb sucker. So far it has only been while she is sleeping or trying to go to sleep and hopefully, it stays that way! It has been much harder to get her to take her pacifier and if it falls out after we leave, she fights to get her little hands unswaddled and plants that thumb in her mouth with much ease now. I don't really want her to suck her thumb, but I can't help but think she looks so cute when she does find it. I guess it is just those tiny little hands that make it so cute! She also loves her fingers now and just recently discovered her feet. I caught her looking at them very intently the other day and watching them as she moved them. She looked like she was in awe. I had her sitting up and she was practically bent in half forward trying to get a closer look. I just love watching her discover new things. It is so fun to see her realize that those fingers and toes belong to her!

A couple pictures confirming she likes that thumb!
