6 Month Check Up
Okay, here is the last post for tonight. Anastyn went to the doctor for her 6 month check up on Wednesday, January 7th. This is the first appointment I was unable to be at, which made me very sad. However, Nathan was able to take her and got to spend the day with her, so I am sure she enjoyed the time she got to spend with Daddy. Nathan said she did very well after she got her shots. She calmed down easily and even liked the medicine that they gave her by mouth this time. Last time she kept gagging, so I am glad that it went down a little easier this time. Her official stats are as follows:
weight - 13 lbs 12 oz which puts her in the 10th percentile
height - 24 and 3/4 inches putting her in the 16th percentile
head circumference - 41 cm which is in the 13th percentile
So, she is a little bit small, but nothing to worry about. She is doing wonderful as far as her physical development and I assume she is just fine mentally as well. She seems to be pretty smart if you ask her mom and dad, but we might be a little biased!
I know I already posted on all of the fun things she is doing now, but here is a little refresher. She is sitting up on her own very well. She can't quite figure out how to get there from a lying down position, but I am sure it won't be too long. She is holding her bottle completely by herself. I actually think she prefers to do it herself as long as she isn't too sleepy. She is rolling all over the place and starting to inch herself forward on her belly little by little. She has learned to get up on her toes and lurch forward just slightly, but she usally ends up doing a face dive. So I am sure we will be seeing the beginnings of crawling within the next month or so. She loves to have her little hands kissed and she is still loving momma's hair as she sucks her thumb. Although, I find this very cute, I am a little sad because it seems as though she has traded her big kisses in for the holding of my hair. She is still cuddly though, so I guess that is the best thing either way!
Today, Terri Stoff from Life Reflections Photography came to take Anastyn's 6 month pictures. I think they are going to be very cute. Anastyn has become quite the talker as of late. The past two mornings I have heard her at about 5:30 each morning lying in her crib just cooing and talking and laughing. I have no idea why she is waking up so early all of a sudden, but I am glad that she is happy as a lark just talking to her little piggy that is in her crib and the letters on her wall. I think every parent loves that moment when they hear their child over the baby monitor just talking up a storm to whatever shadow, stuffed animal, blanket, finger or toe will listen. I think it is so cute! She also decided to show the photographer how well she can talk by giving her a long rambling of lalalalala along with some other syllables and bubble blowing. As I said in one of my prior posts, she is really getting to be so much fun and we are so excited to see her as she continues to grow and develop.
Below are a couple pictures of Anastyn playing in our bed one Saturday morning. Nathan had pulled the cover up over her head, and as you can see, it was full of static. Anastyn thought it was fun hiding under the cover and I thought her hair looked funny so I ran and got my camera.

Happy New Year!
Anastyn had a bouncin' New Year's Eve as we celebrated with my parents, Trent & Kesha, Ed & Sheila, Seth & Ambrea, and Bailey & Jackson. She had a good time in her little doorway jumper as we all ate supper, then she played with everyone for a little while. She made it until after 9, but not by much. We put her down for the night and she slept right through the welcoming of the New Year. We are very excited about what this year will bring. It is sure to be great fun as Anastyn continues learning new things. She is such a happy little girl and so much fun. We only wish we could spend more time with her throughout the week. We definitely cherish the time we get to spend with her! Happy New Year everyone, hope your year is off to a great start!
Happy Birthday, Mommy!
The night before my birthday, Nathan, Anastyn, and I went to eat at Longhorn. We had a very good dinner and Anastyn was a good girl as usual. I can't wait until we can start giving her little bites of table food because she can't keep her eyes off of us when we are eating. We are giving her little drinks of water still, which seems to keep her satisfied throughout our meals, but I am sure that is not going to work for much longer! Anyway, I am so happy that Anastyn was here to celebrate my birthday with me this year. She brings so much joy into our lives and we can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays and holidays with her!
Christmas with the Lansford's
This post is extremely late, however, better late than never, right? We celebrated Christmas with Nathan's family on the 27th of December. Anastyn received some great presents, but the best of all was the one wrapped in shiny, silver paper. She loved that paper! Luckily, when she chewed on it, it didn't get soggy or rip easily, so she was able to enjoy it for quite sometime! We enjoyed our time with Nathan's family and Anastyn is enjoying the new toys she received! Here are some pics from our time with the Lansford's.

6 Month Birthday
Anastyn celebrated her 6 month birthday on January 2. It is so hard to believe that she is already 6 months old. Yet, it is hard to remember what our lives were like without her. Anastyn has her 6 month check-up on January 7th, so I will post official stats after that, but here are just a few of the new things she has been doing these last couple of months.
Anastyn is rolling around like crazy. If she wants something, she finds a way to get it.
She is sitting up unsupported. She has actually been doing this for a while now, but she is gaining more and more control by the day. She is able to use her hands to remain steady and can sit and play with her toys quite well. She still falls backwards on occasion, but she is learning to catch herself before she gets too far. I am sure it will only be a matter of time before she can sit herself up from lying down. But not yet.
She has started inching herself forward on her belly. She will sometimes get up on her toes and push up with her hands until she is in a bridge position, but she isn't sure what to do from there. This next month is going to be fun as she learns she is able to propel herself forward. As for now though, she will keep inching herself forward little by little.
She loves, loves, loves her food! (Can't imagine where she got that from?) She has tried sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, squash, bananas, peaches, and still eats a little rice cereal. She started with the 1st foods, but has had 2nd foods a few times with no trouble. She has very good control over her food. She also loves to drink out of mommy and daddy's cups. She is learning how to sip from an open cup quite well. At a restaurant one day we gave her a sippy cup with some water in it and she really enjoyed that. I am definitely going to have to buy her some sippy cups soon.
She is a very happy baby and laughs often. However, her laugh seems to change all of the time. Sometimes she just laughs outright and hard, other times she almost sounds like she is coughing or panting, but we have discovered this is just her new laugh. She grins almost anytime anyone talks to her. I absolutely love to watch her break into her big grin! It is so cute!
She enjoys bouncing very much. She also loves to dance around the room with mommy or daddy. She likes to be sung to and read to. She loves her books and baby dolls.
In the last couple of days she has started doing my favorite new thing. When she gets tired, if I pick her up, she will cuddle her cheek up close to mine then she has started trying to get some of my hair in her little hand to hold as she sucks her thumb. It is so sweet how she does this, and if it falls out of her hand, she has to stop sucking her thumb, grab my hair again and then she will suck her thumb again. As I have said before, I am not thrilled that she is a thumb sucker, but as for now, she looks so cute when she does it! Anyway, what mama doesn't love when her baby starts to be a little cuddlebug!
She is getting to be pretty vocal. She likes to hear herself make new noises, especially little screams.
When she sleeps she covers every square inch of her crib. She rolls and wiggles and flips around all night. She is never in the same position when I go check on her.
She is so much fun! I know these next 6 months are sure to bring lots of excitement! We are so blessed and thrilled to have such a sweet, happy little girl!
I was trying to get a picture of Anastyn on her 6 month birthday. Apparently, as of late, she has become very sensitive to the flash and it was hard to get a picture with her eyes open. I had to post a few though, because I thought it was funny. I have about 20 pictures just like the following, all with either both eyes closed, one eye open, or she is squinting. I did manage to get a couple with the peeps open though!
